I’ve been working with the team at Random House for a few years now. They’ve sent over some great projects and they like working with me because I’m consistently able to deliver their sites on time and functioning just how they want. Lately they came to me with a tight deadline on a new site for an upcoming book. Apt Design worked hard to get this one done for them as well.
For book-specific sites it’s usually good to draw design inspiration directly from the book cover, and this site was no exception. The dark textured background with glitteringly white content showcases the book perfectly and gets readers ready to enter this world of intrigue.
Instead of breaking content across several pages the decision was made to keep everything together on one page. However, a menu bar still allows users to jump to specific sections of text.
Lastly this site played big on social media sharing, just right for the young audience of the book. We created specific character cards for the three main characters each of which had a quote and corresponding image. Fans are able to easily share these images on Facebook or Twitter – bringing new fans directly back to the site!
As with all of my sites this one is easily editable by the Random House team so they can make edits on the fly.
