Last week my wife and I took a working vacation and road tripped down to southern Utah. While there we soaked up the awe-inspiring sites of Zion NP, Grand Canyon NP, and Arches NP. We woke up our legs on some intense hikes and let our minds roam free of day to day distractions.

We also spent some time volunteering at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, a 30,000 acre no-kill zone for homeless and hard-to-adopt pets. Best Friends gives its volunteers all sorts of tough tasks, like walking dogs, petting cats, and playing with bunnies. It was great to see how a place dedicated to improving the lives of animals and people was getting so much help from people around the country. Hopefully giving back to others will continue to become more and more of a national pastime.
If you have a dog, why not take it on a long walk today? You both deserve it.
